Physicians at The Foot Institute – Calgary Sunpark concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors devote approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After acquiring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained comprehensive healthcare education with a concentration on difficulties concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to address concerns stretching from normal ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which provide them the experience crucial to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and protect against countless complications which the feet usually encounter.
